Tragedy

Don’t allow yourself to become numb to tragedy; too often tragedy is right in our own backyard.
We hear and see tragedy all the time; Family’s breaking up, fathers getting lock up, mothers getting strung out on drugs, the girl next door just found out she’s infected with aids.
Mr. Walter was diagnosed with colon cancer and the young high school athlete was found murdered on 55th and James Ave last week. Could it be that we see so much tragedy our hearts don’t’ miss a beat?
Haiti is fighting a tragedy today, let us band together in prayers and resources for this nation. Humans are more fragile then we care to think, and life is taken for granted on a daily basis. Most of us wake up every morning thinking the day was owed to us, but not knowing what the day holds for us.
Everyday count your blessings, don’t just sit back arrogantly thinking the gift of life holds the same value as material possessions. Take a moment and tell someone you love them, tell them how important they really are to you.
I have a habit of telling people that their presence makes a difference in my life, even the negative ones. Sometime peoples intensions are to cause you harm but God turns it around for good.

Well said Yot. We take a lot for granted. I like your thought about waking up thinking this day was owed to you. As the saying goes “the next minute ain’t guaranteed to no one.” Our Sisters and Brothers in Haiti, Mr Walters diagnosed with colon cancer, the family and friends of the athlete murdered on 55th and James, and others, are painfully aware of this reality.
It seems like so many of us, though, if we haven’t faced tragedy right up in our face in a while, do get numb to tragedy. Unfortunately, sometimes it needs to be even closer than our back yard to get our attention.
Grace and Peace,
Mark
